Veo 3.1: frames, extension and ingredients

Announced on 15 October 2025: richer audio, start and end frames, clips that can be extended, and reference images.

By The Crewnema team

Google announced Veo 3.1 on 15 October 2025. Here is what Google said, in its own terms. A January 2026 update is covered in Veo 3.1 update: vertical video and better consistency.

What Google announced

  • Richer audio across its features, so scenes can be made with generated sound.
  • Frames to Video: give a starting image and an ending image and the model produces the transition between them.
  • Extend: continue a video from its final second to make clips of a minute or more.
  • Ingredients to Video: use several reference images to steer characters, objects and style.
  • Insert and Remove: add or take away an object in a scene, with better handling of shadows and lighting.
  • More realistic texture and closer following of the prompt.
  • Availability in Flow, the Gemini API, Vertex AI for enterprise customers and the Gemini app.

What it means for an advert

Start and end frames suit product shots where you know the first and last picture. Extension lets a short idea grow into a longer one without starting over. Insert and remove are useful for the small fixes an advert needs, such as taking a stray object out of a shot.

In Crewnema

Veo 3.1 is in Crewnema’s model roster, but it is not the model at any of the four quality levels today, so a video is not made with it unless that changes. We say so because a model being on a list does not mean it is used for your video. See how the levels work.
