FLUX 3 Image Klein: an open image model for an 8 GB card

Released on 15 October 2026: a small open-weight model that makes and edits images, takes ten references and runs on a gaming graphics card.

By The Crewnema team

Black Forest Labs released FLUX 3 Image Klein on 15 October 2026, with the weights published the same day. It is the smallest image model of its FLUX 3 family. These are the points from the launch.

What Black Forest Labs announced

  • A 5.6 billion parameter model that makes images from text and edits existing ones.
  • Up to 10 reference images per output, and layout control by drawing boxes for where things go.
  • Native output up to 4K.
  • Base weights for fine-tuning, distilled weights for speed, and quantised builds; the INT8 build runs on a GeForce RTX card with 8 GB of memory, through ComfyUI or Diffusers.
  • The FLUX Kommunity License: free commercial use for individuals and businesses with under $5 million a year in revenue, and a paid API or licence above that.
  • Black Forest Labs says it beats larger open models, including Qwen-Image 2.1, in its own blind evaluations.

Our view

Ten references and box layout are what product photography needs: the bottle, the label, the logo and the background, each where you put it. That is more useful to a shop than another point of realism. The licence is the other headline. Most small businesses are under the revenue line, so this is one of the few strong image models a business can run on its own computer and use commercially without a contract.

The benchmark claims are the maker’s own, against models it chose. A model this small usually gives up something on crowded scenes and fine text, and that is what we would look at first.

In Crewnema

FLUX 3 Image Klein is not on Crewnema’s roster. For a picture made from words alone, the Free level uses Krea 2 Large and Low uses Ideogram V4. Whatever model draws the picture, put prices and addresses on the end card rather than in the image: why words belong on the end card.
