Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash: extension, frames and drafts
Released on 27 August 2026: clips that can be extended to 40 seconds, start and end frames, and a low-cost draft resolution.
By The Crewnema team
On 27 August 2026 Google released Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash, an update to the model it introduced at I/O in May. These are the points from Google’s announcement.
What Google announced
- Extending a video in 10-second steps up to a total of 40 seconds, using up to 10 seconds of what came before.
- First and last frames: you give a start and an end picture and the model fills in the movement between them.
- Resolution choices: a 360p draft mode that Google says is faster and about a third of the cost, standard 720p, and 1080p or 4K upscaling.
- Up to three seconds of video as a reference inside a prompt.
- Availability through Google AI Studio, an enterprise API, Flow and the Gemini app.
What it means for an advert
First frame and last frame control suits product shots, where you know exactly how a shot starts and ends. A cheap draft mode suits the way adverts are actually made: check the idea at low cost and render the one you like. Crewnema works the same way, previewing at draft quality before you approve.
In Crewnema
Gemini Omni Flash 1.1 is the video model at Crewnema’s Low quality level. Which model sits at which level can change as models arrive; how the levels work explains the choice. The first release is covered in Gemini Omni Flash: Google’s video model from I/O.
