Amazon Nova 2.5 Sonic: a voice model for agents on AWS
Generally available from 5 October 2026: a real-time voice model for agents, with expressive voices in seven languages.

Amazon made Nova 2.5 Sonic generally available on 5 October 2026. It is a speech-to-speech model for real-time voice agents, offered through Amazon Bedrock. These are the points from Amazon’s announcement.
What Amazon announced
- Better reasoning, instruction following and tool use than Nova 2 Sonic, with lower latency.
- Expressive voices in seven languages.
- Bedrock regions in North Virginia, Oregon, Stockholm and Tokyo.
- The same price as Nova 2 Sonic.
Our view
Like the other voice-agent models this month, Nova 2.5 Sonic answers calls; it does not make adverts. It is aimed at companies that already build on AWS, and no Indian region is listed, which matters for a business serving Indian callers. For a voiceover it is the wrong tool for the same reason as the others: it is tuned to answer fast, not to read a line carefully.
