Keeping the same face and product in every shot
Drifting faces and shape-shifting products are the most common reason AI video looks generic. What causes it and what you can do about it.
By The Crewnema team
The most common complaint about AI video is that nothing stays the same: the presenter in shot two looks like a different person from shot one, and the bottle changes shape. Viewers may not name it, but they feel it, and it makes an advert look generic. Here is why it happens and what helps.
Why it drifts
Each shot is generated on its own. Unless the model is shown who and what to draw, it invents a plausible person and a plausible product every time. Two shots described only as “a woman” and “a serum bottle” will show two women and two bottles.
Give it the real thing
Upload a clear photo of the person or the product. In Crewnema, a photo of a face is used as the reference for the shots that person is in, and a product photo is used for every shot that shows the product. A frontal, well-lit photo works better than a stylised or partly hidden one.
Describe the same way every time
Reuse the exact words for a person across shots, including clothing. Clothing is the detail that drifts most: an apron can be green over a white tee in one shot and white over black in the next. Crewnema records each person’s outfit from their description and puts it in every prompt, and you can plan a change of clothes for a particular scene.
Check, then repair
After the pictures and clips are made, Crewnema compares each person against their reference photo and flags the shots where the face has drifted. For a still, it can put the reference face back and keeps the change only if the comparison improves. For a clip, it can generate the shot again, which costs a full render each time, so it checks with you first unless you have told it to run on its own.
A few habits that help
- Keep the cast small: one presenter is easier to hold than four.
- Prefer medium and close shots for people. Very wide shots make faces small and harder to keep.
- Use real photos of real people only with their permission. Crewnema asks you to confirm this before a video with a real person’s face is posted.
- Review the finished video on a phone, watching the faces and the product, not the story.
